The distance you are shooting, angle of the base and size of the scope doesn’t matter. If there is interference between the scope and gun, material somewhere will have to be removed. Dave Ferret50I am looking for recommendations for type and height of scope Scope Rings . I have an AR50 and am looking to mount a Springfield 6-20X56 mil-dot government model scope that I’m not using right now on it. I’ve watched the forums and have heard kudos for everything from Burris Xtreme and Leupold Mark IV Scope Rings to Nightforce and Ivey’s. If I’m looking at the right model Burris those are aluminum Scope Rings . correct? I wouldn’t think that to be a best choice for a 50. I would think steel is the way to go. Agree / disagree? I use Leupold Scope Rings on a Rem PSS and am pleased with them but are they a good choice in this application? No experience with Nightforce but they don’t really look much better than Leupold, only more $$$. Ivey being adjustable is really nice but at $445 retail………aiyeeee…. Badger look good too but are they better/worse than Nightforce/Leo? Why? I think maybe med height Night Force (.885″) should work but it just may take high Scope Rings of some of the other mfg’s to work with a 56mm objective. What have the pros here found to work on an AR50? I know the ever popular nightforce has a 5-22 with a 56mm objective. Any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc is appreciated. UltraCarry45

2/20/2012 1:46:08 AM Got a Leupold 2X M8. Nice scope, but they are quite different to a standard optic. Not much FOV in comparison to a regular scope, but it allows both eyes to see more of what’s going on outside theAR-15 scope(if that makes sense). Unfortunately I bought it for a revolver, but it doesn’t have enough eye-relief to be comfortable on one. Previous owner had it fitted to a .45-70 – it’s a toughAR-15 scopefor something so lightweight. I like it enough to want a rifle it’ll work with, but it has a matt silver finish which would look awful on a blued firearm. Not sure what the Burris versions are like, although I don’t think their high-end AR-15 scopes are as good as Leupold, and their lower-end AR-15 scopes are nothing special. fortunatly the parts are easily switched out for real M-14 Scope Mounts parts or Garand rear sight components. As previosly mentioned the barrels are usualy chambered for 7.62mm nato not nesessarily .308 so do a headspace check every few hundred rounds and you should be good to go.
